Students from all over the country in grades 3 - 8, participated in a live Web cast straight  from the
Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum.  The National Air and Space Museum includes the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world.  It is also the center of research into history, science, and the technology of aviation and space flight.

Millions of students tuned into an actual real-time videoconference broadcast  that explored the physics of flight and linked students to museum scientists.  Dr. Blake Reid answered phone calls and e-mails relating to the lesson during the broadcast.

Within the framework of an interdisciplinary curriculum, Woodlawn Elementary School's Project Team has been learning and exploring the physics of flight.  Teachers have been exploring the concepts of air, Bernoulli, wings, and airplane design with museum scientists and specialists. Teachers have developed complete lesson plans and projects that include  pre-broadcast, post-broadcast, developmental and investigative activities.
