Post Video Conference

Students will begin the process of comparison of the artists and works visited in the Museum Conference.  Open discussion will take place to examine the similarities and differences in the word choices for each of the conference activities.  (Students will compare the lists compiled for each of the works examined at the Albright-Knox Museum)  NYS Standards 3 & 4

Art Activity  NYS Standard 1 & 2
Revisit examples of works by both of the artists to serve as inspiration to the spontaneous process needed to engage in the Monoprinting activity.

Monoprinting

  • Students will engage in the process of using water soluble inks to apply to sheets of plexiglass (various dimensions) using a variety techniques, such as brushwork, rolling on with brayer, stencils, finger-painting, dripping, etc.

  • Students will select to create a work of art that imitates abstract art that will either deal strictly with formal elements such as line, shape, color, etc. OR use these elements to develop an image based on specific content (such as emotion, symbolism, etc.)  Their objective will be to use art elements and principles of design to convey visual compositions.

Conclusion:  Critique works created by students
Be sure to encourage discussion of the impressions and association made in response to the lines, shapes, colors, etc. that the student have used in their monoprints.
