Pre-activity for videoconference
A.  Students will read The Contender, chapter one.  In small groups, students will complete a Venn diagram that will identify specific details of Alfred's life.  Pay particular attention to age, education, job, friends, family, etc.

B.  Using a worksheet, students will predict if Alfred will be a success of failure and give reasons why.

C.  Each group will share its decision about Alfred's future.

D.  Optional Library Visit.  Research background information on the book.
