Museum of Modern Art, NY is located in the theater district of New York City. Founded in 1929 as an educational institution, The Museum of Modern Art is dedicated to being the foremost museum of modern art in the world, housinges one of the world's finest collections.
MoMA's inquiry-based teaching methodology is ideal for videoconferencing, a live, interactive broadcast. Looking with MoMA videoconference classes provide multiple-part programming to teachers and students outside the New York metropolitan area.
Professional Development
for Teachers and Administrators
Looking with MoMA half-day and full-day workshops introduce
participants to MoMA's questioning methodology through discussion of
selected images from The Museum of Modern Art’s permanent
collection. Educators explore how information such as title, artist,
and date affects the way a work of art is viewed and discussed.
Professional Development Workshops are for a maximum of fifteen
participants.
Professional Development Workshops include worksheets and color
reproductions for use during the videoconference and access to the
Teacher Information Center,
a resource library of slides and slide sets, for support materials.
Fee: $250 half day (2.5 hours); $500 full day (5 hours).
Required Equipment: ISDN equipment with at least 128K connection
speed. Please dial in ten minutes prior to scheduled program for
testing.
Student Classes for
Grades 4–12
Looking with MoMA I and II (two class periods), introduce students
to works from The Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection
through videoconferencing. Using written and visual exercises, this
discussion-based format encourages students to make careful
observations and interpretations based on evidence they see in works
of art. Student Classes are for a maximum of thirty students.
Student Classes include worksheets and color reproductions for use
during the videoconference and access to the
Teacher Information Center,
a resource library of slides and slide sets, for support materials.
Fee: $150 per program (two class periods).
