The New York State Museum is the place that people go to understand why New York is called the "empire state."  The museum houses more than five million specimens and artifacts.  Over the years, the museum has grown into a major research and an educational institution dedicated to preserving New York's rich artistic, social, historical, and environmental legacies.

Program Offering:

The New York State Museum's Education Department working with Project VIEW, has developed a videoconference that introduces the Iroquois culture and the rich collections of Iroquois artifacts that is available to schools. An expert museum educator delivers a K through 8 program tells the legend of the bear using symbolism that was recorded on a Mohawk story hide.
