Students from all over the country in grades 3-8,
participated in a live Web cast shot from the
Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space
Museum.

The
National Air and Space Museum
includes the largest collection of historic air
and spacecraft in the world. It is also the
center of research into history, science, and the
technology of aviation and space flight.
Millions of students tuned into the actual
real-time videoconference broadcast that explored
the physics of flight and linked students to
museum scientists. Dr. Blake Reid answered phone
calls and e-mails relating to the lesson during
the broadcast.
In
addition to the How Things Fly Web cast,
this project continues to explore the concepts of
air, Bernoulli Principle, wings and airplane
design. Museum scientists, specialists and the
Project VIEW teacher teams have developed complete
lesson plans, projects and offer extraordinary
resources. This project includes pre-broadcast,
post-broadcast, developmental and investigative
activities.
