This integration plan was used by a Grade 3 Art Teacher at Boght Hills Elementary School.

The rain forest program directly relates to North Colonie Central School District's third grade social studies curriculum focusing on forests.  Prior to the conference, the students will be exposed to basic rain forest information including the layers of the rainforest, typical rain forest animals, and how rain forest animals interact with their environment.  After the conference, the students will work in groups of 2 or 3 to write a script for a play that they will share with their kindergarten or first grade book buddies using their rain forest puppets.  The play will highlight the information that the students gained from their video conferencing experience.

In order to succeed with this learning experience, the students will need to know basic rain forest information as described above.
