Endangered Species I

Objective/Focus: 
This program will be an introduction to an endangered species research project.  Students will be studying diversity of life, adaptations of organisms and human impact on the environment culminating in research on an endangered species.  Their research will focus on causes of decline as well as possible solutions.


Mathematics, Science & Technology
 

Standard 4:
Students will understand and apply scientific concepts, principles and theories pertaining to the physical setting and living environment and recognize the historical development of ideas in science.

Standard 5:
Students will apply technological knowledge and skills to design, construct, use and evaluate products and systems to satisfy human and environmental needs.

Standard 6:
Students will understand the relationships and common themes that connect mathematics, science and technology and apply the themes to these and other areas of learning.

Planning - 2 Classes

Implementation - 2 Classes

Post Lesson & Activities - 5 Classes

Assessment - 1 Class

Logistical Planning:

Discuss with students how to conduct themselves during a videoconference

Modifications - Have small groups practice a video conference

Assessment - Observation, Group Discussion on topic

Techniques - Rubric to grade research project
