Nobody Like Me
Grades K

Students will encounter amphibians, bats and snakes.  They will learn why these animals are important ecologically ad what makes them interesting and beautiful.

The purpose of this program is to allow the students to gain understanding of bats, amphibians, and snakes through listening and participating in discussion and hands on activities.  This program will provide students with an opportunity to develop, ask and answer questions related to new subject materials, speak clearly, stay on task and convey their understanding of the subject matter.  This program also dispell student's negative and inaccurate beliefs about amphibians, bats, and snakes.

Math, Science and Technology Standards

Standard 1
Students will use mathematical analysis, scientific inquiry and engineering design, as appropriate, to pose questions, seek answers and develop solution.

Logistical Planning
The teacher will preface the videoconference by introducing the subject matter to the students and will ask the student to tell what they know (or think they know) about amphibians, bats and snakes.  Together, the class will formulate questions to ask the content provider.  The teacher will introduce the student to videoconferencing by explaining how it works and engaging the students in a practice videoconference, answering ay questions.  The range of abilities will be accommodated as the students will be be prepared for the subject matter.

Techniques and Tools
The teacher will assess the students' understanding of the material through observation, group discussion, and a small project based on the material provided.  A rubric will be used to determine student understanding.
