Science Technology Standard 4
Students will understand & apply scientific concepts,
principles and theories pertaining to the physical
setting & living environment & recognize the
historical development of ideas in science.
Time
Required:
Planning
- The teacher will set up the videoconferencing
equipment in the classroom (30 minutes)
Pre
Lesson Activity - The students will practice
videoconferencing with another site for two 20-minute
sessions.
Implementation - The students will participate in a
1-hour videoconference with the Cincinnati Zoo.
Post
Lesson & Activities - The students will do research on
their favorite insect. (Three 30-minute sessions)
Assessment - The students will write and publish a book
about their favorite insect and compare it to the
butterfly (Five 30-minute sessions)
Logistical Planning:
1.
The teacher will set up the
videoconferencing equipment in the classroom before
school.
2. The
students will practice videoconferencing with the
equipment in the classroom for two 20-minute sessions.
3. The
classroom teacher will confer with the ESL teacher about
videoconferencing and insects so they can prepare the
ESL students with the new vocabulary words and concepts.
Technique and Tools:
The students will write and publish a book about
their favorite insect. Their progress will be
evaluated by a science content rubric. |
