Before the
videoconference, the students will read Scholastic
Magazine on Edgar Degas "Working with Composition" and
get background information on his life, style, and
subject matter. Students will also see a video on
Impressionism. We will be talking a field trip to
the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC in the spring and
will have a tour of Impressionism.
Standard 3: Responding to and analyzing works of art
Students will respond critically to a variety of works
in the arts, connecting the individual work to other
works and to other areas of human endeavor and thought.
Standard 4: Understanding the cultural dimension and
contributions of the arts
Students will develop an understanding of the personal
and cultural forces that shape artistic communication
and how the arts in turn shape the diverse cultures of
past and present society

Logistical Planning:
Review the elements & principles of design and
critical analysis of a work of art. Asking
students questions about works of art. Getting
them to look at art.
Students
will have a mock video conference in the Uhai Theatre
prior to the conference to become familiar with the room
and explain what the will expect. We will discuss
what they will see on the screen, camera shots, what to
wear, etc.
We will
have a trial dialup conference.
