P I N E W O O D   S T U D E N T S   A N D   T E A C H E R S   P A R T I C I P A T E

A team of teachers from Pinewood Intermediate School  including Mrs. Coelho, Mrs. Giordano, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Osinski, Mrs. Wagschall and Mrs. Rushby have been working with scientists and staff from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.  The team of teachers  visited SERC in early November to investigate, study and learn about the Chesapeake Ecosystem.  The team is currently developing an array of extraordinary  lessons and activities that will support the upcoming electronic field trip and  will be available to classrooms nationwide.  In the interim, some of  Pinewood's classes are in the process of of turning their classrooms into laboratories.  With the assistance of the teaching team and SERC scientists, the students will be conducting a number of experiments and projects that will be included and serve as models in the April 30th nationwide broadcast.
