Time Warner Cable -
www.twalbany.com operates one of the most
sophisticated cable systems in the nation and is home to NY's
first two-way digital network. The system provide high
speed on-line access for residential customers, schools and
businesses; and Digital Cable with 240 cable channels,
including interactive programming guides and popular
award-winning locally produced programming. The Division
serves more than 300,000 customers in and around Albany, Troy,
Rensselaer, Saratoga, Glens Falls, Schenectady, Amsterdam and
Gloversville/Johntown NY as well as Pittsfield and Athol, MA.
TWC ha an established history of
partnering with other area educational institutions, such as
Hudson Valley Community College to successfully implement and
maintain distance-learning programs that connect high school
students at various locations to college level instruction.
TWC provides free monthly cable,
information and teacher training tools to more than 370
schools in the communities that we serve. To assist
educators in locating the designated educational programming
offered on cable television, TWC provides a free monthly issue
of Cable in the Classroom magazine as well as TWC Education
Connection. TWC also provides each accredited K-12
public and private school in its service area, free cable
modems and free access to Road Runner and the Internet for
educational purposes.

Project VIEW currently has the infrastructure in place
to reach over 500 schools within New York State. SCSD
has worked hard to incorporate videoconferencing within its
own schools, but Project VIEW grant and the technology
provided by TWC expand the project's capability and will make
it accessible in other school districts. Project VIEW
continue to bring hundreds of students together to learn,
share, and interact with each other.
Project VIEW, into the fourth
funding year, has already developed relationship with
nationally recognized content providers including museums and
zoos. The VIEW team, teachers and content providers
collaborate to develop dynamic curriculum and interactive
content that is delivered.
A crucial component of Project
VIEW is train teachers to integrate videoconferencing into the
curriculum and to continue to develop resources, while
ensuring accessibility and adaptability to classrooms
throughout the nation.
C-SPAN Cable Network -
www.c-span.org C-SPAN brings
programming, its Web sites, professional education staff,
network of teacher users, School Bus and other tools to the
project. C-SPAN offers a wide-variety of programming
opportunities, archives and Web-based resources, liberal
copyright policy, Experience working with educators and
students, and an education studio for videoconferencing.
C-SPAN School Bus is a mobile
production studio and presentation space. The bus
includes a wide variety of programming from three cable
television networks, extensive online archives, as well as
programs from the videotape archive. Presentations can
be geared to teachers or students using C-SPAN clips and
cameras to offer additional information about content.
C-SPAN's primary mission is to
provide viewers with access to forums where public policy is
discussed, debated and decided.
In addition to the online
program archives & teacher resources, the C-SPAN Websites
allow viewers to watch any C-SPAN network live, search for
archived programming, and participate in online chat
discussions.
