Schenectady City School
District's Superintendent, Dr. John Falco
"Outstanding Superintendent." Schenectady is the
lead education agency for Project VIEW.
Amy
Perry, NYSCATE President, presented the award to Dr.
Falco at the conference banquet on the evening of
November 18th for transforming the Schenectady City
School District into a model for technology
integration.
Dr.
Falco, a former New York City teacher, principal and
Schenectady Deputy Superintendent, served in the
Schenectady School District for the past seven
years. It was in April 2000, when the District was
awarded the $10 million U.S. Department of Education
Technology Innovation Challenge Grant, Project
VIEW. VIEW partners schools across New York State
with cultural institutions across the nation.
"VIEW
is our vision of the future," Falco stated. "The
project brings real time learning into the classroom
through vido-conferencing." Falco stressed the
importance of standards driven videoconferencing in
the post 9/11 educational environment. Under his
leadership Schenectady City Schools are pioneering
exciting new ways of learning and teaching.
