Investigating Global Warming:  Clues to a Climate Change

Throughout this videoconference  program, students will work closely with scientists at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center to investigate and study global warming, the green house effect, changes in CO2 levels as well as the cause and effect of those changes.   As students prepare for the videoconference, they will participate in research as well as a series of  pre-conference activities.  The multi-disciplinary program targeting students in grades 7 - 12, has strong emphasis in the areas of  Science and Social Studies.  Post-conference activities are also included.

The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is located on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  SERC's on-going research applies long-term studies to examine the ecological questions about landscapes of linked ecosystems, particularly those impacted by human activities.

With this program, students will work with SERC scientists and experts and have access to fifteen years of research and data.
