The purpose of this newsletter is to update you on the current Cable in the Classroom programming that is available for you to videotape for use in your classroom. Starting this January, Time Warner Cable will present "MasterMinds," an academic competition featuring representatives from area high schools. "MasterMinds" is a BOCES service. All public, private and parochial high schools are eligible. "MasterMinds" uses the College Bowl
TM format for match play. Matches are played in seven-minute halves with each school playing four students at a time. Students must ring in and be recognized before answering. Correct answers earn that player's team 10 points and the opportunity for the team to answer a bonus question. This format was used for the "GE College Bowl" television show. The questions cover a broad range: art, biology, chemistry, current events, geography, history, literature, music, political science, pop culture, religion and sports.C-SPAN Teacher Fellowships
The C-SPAN Education Foundation and Time Warner Cable offer Middle & High School Teacher Fellowships to teachers and media specialists who have demonstrated creative use of C-SPAN in the Classroom. Fellows come to Washington, D.C., for four weeks during the summer to work with members of C-SPAN's Community Relations Department.

A member of and soloist with the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra performs for Music at Noon on January 14, 10 days before she returns to Jordan Hall to play with Metamorphosen. Highlights of her 2001-02 season include a recital debut at the Kennedy Center, appearances at the Lincoln Center Festival in Bright Sheng’s The Silver River, performances with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, and appearances with the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra at Jordan Hall. Recent season highlights include performances with the Seattle Symphony under Gerard Schwarz, appearances with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, her Korean debut performance with the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) Orchestra and a tour of New Mexico under the auspices of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.
