The May issue of Time Warner Cable’s education newsletter, TWC’s Education Connection, features unique Cable in the Classroom Educational Projects for teachers, students and parents.

The purpose of this newsletter is to update you on the current Cable in the Classroom programming that is available for you to videotape for use in your classroom. Space Day 2003

The Junior Museum invites area kids and teachers to celebrate Space Month

May is Space Month at the Junior Museum of the Capital Region and all month long there will be special hands-on exhibits, demos and displays relating to space. To kick off the month, the Junior Museum will participate in Space Day on Thursday, May 1, which is a nationwide event. Time Warner Cable and A&E Television Networks are partnering with the Junior Museum and will be providing a live web cast, and a video broadcast at the Junior Museum. All month long, visitors to the Junior Museum will be able to participate in the Signatures in Space program.

Throughout the month of May, the Junior Museum will continue to offer exciting and thought provoking space-related exhibits and activities from Planetarium and Molecularium shows to telescope exhibits, paper airplane contests and Build-A-Rocket workshops. Complete schedules are attached and posted at www.juniormuseum.org.

General Admission is $5.00; members and children under 3 are free. To schedule a field trip to the Junior Museum during Space Day or Space Month, please call the Museum at 235-2120 ext. 207. MasterMinds

Time Warner Cable presents "MasterMinds," an academic competition featuring representatives from area high schools. "MasterMinds" is a BOCES service. All public, private and parochial high schools are eligible. "MasterMinds" uses the College BowlTM format for match play. Matches are played in seven-minute halves with each school playing four students at a time. Students must ring in and be recognized before answering. Correct answers earn that player's team 10 points and the opportunity for the team to answer a bonus question. This format was used for the "GE College Bowl" television show. The questions cover a broad range: art, biology, chemistry, current events, geography, history, literature, music, political science, pop culture, religion and sports.

"MasterMinds" will be shown on TWC local channel 2 in Albany/Troy, 14 on all other systems and on channel 11 in Pittsfield Mass.
