Tips - For the Video Conference

Dress

  • Avoid checks, stripes, intricate patterns - they vibrate on screen

  • Avoid white - it glows and is distracting

  • Adjust lighting so it doesn't reflect on glasses

  • Limit jewelry - it can reflect on the screen

Motion

  • Moving around is more effective and communicates a relaxed presentation

  • Allow extra time to transition positions

  • Use slow and controlled motion

Timing/Pacing

  • Take your time - pacing is slower than in-person programming

  • Allow extra time for interaction - people need time to get comfortable with the medium and there are sometimes delays in transmission

  • Speak in a normal tone of voice
