African Voices includes a one hour Webcast and a number of lesson plans that explore the African culture and history.
The Webcast which is available for individual or classroom viewing, includes students spending time and talking with   Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History's anthropologist Michael Mason and ethnomusicologist Georges Collinet, host of the radio show, Afropop Worldwide.

Through this experience and the extraordinary Smithsonian museum exhibit, African Voices, students also listened to African's talk about their lives, the  African culture, African music and participated in a number of activities.  Some of the follow-up activities and suggestions for incorporating the theme into include writing to pen pals in Africa and hosting an African Festival.

This project includes a number of activities and resources that can be incorporated into the classroom lesson.  They can be used to support the African Voices  Webcast or as individual activities.
