Meeting Point
Videoconference software that enable content provider and audience to share information.  Available as a desktop (individual) or team (group) solution.

Possible Uses
-medium by which the actual videoconference program will take place

-communication between museum experts and development teachers

-communication between development teachers and Project VIEW team members.

Internet Explorer
Web browsing tool that enables user to search the Internet for resources.  The T-1 connection allows for an exceptionally fast response in navigating throughout the Internet.  Although a high speed connection allows for quick responses, if needed, a lesson in advanced web searching and multimedia resources is certainly available.

Possible Uses:
Research content information or activities
Download an image or movie that depicts and idea.

Microsoft Office
Word:  Microsoft Word offers and easy to use forum for documenting the written word.  If you are familiar with other word processing software, the transition into Word will be almost seamless.

Creating a Student Activity Sheet

Excel
A spreadsheet tool that enables the user to document, formulate and chart data.  The conversation into chartable information is exceptionally easy, with products that are of professional quality.

Possible Uses
Inputting data, then creating averages, sums, differences, etc.
Creating charts or graphs  that support a hypothesis

PowerPoint
A top of the line multimedia presentation tool.  Incorporates options that include the insertion of pictures, sounds and movies.  Through modeling or demonstration this tool can create a teaching environment that stimulates a multitude of learning styles.

Possible Uses
A multimedia presentation model that sets a standard for what you would like the students to do

An interactive self-directed project where students navigate through a series of slides.

FrontPage
A web authoring tool that provides a word processing face, while the html code is being written for you in the background.  If you can word process, you can create a simple web page.

Possible Uses
An organized web page that categorizes and organizes a series of web sites that act as a research/information gathering tool for students

A gallery of pictures that pose questions and request reactions.

Spin Panorama
A picture manipulation tool that allows you to stitch together a series of consecutive digital pictures into one panoramic view.  Ideal for depicting the "whole" view.  Can view in either a movie or still picture.

Possible Uses
To visually show 360 degrees of the surrounding environment

To stitch together two - three pictures to get an elongated view of an event.

Spin Object
A picture manipulation tool that allows  you to stitch together a series of digital pictures of an object that has been rotated.  Either by using a "lazy susan" or by manually turning the object you create a series of pictures that will indicate the object spinning.  The completed movie allows the user to rotate the object so that they can control viewing all sides.

To show the ides of a geometric shape

Imovie
A video editing software that allows you to manipulate and edit from digital or vhs footage.  Adding text, voiceovers, and music are several of the options available.  Conversion into mpeg, avi and Quicktime make it especially flexible for cross platform applications.

Possible Uses
To edit a 30-second video sequence off a vhs tape for insertion into a web page

To add text and music to a digital video that was taken of a content-rich event.

Photoeditor
A photo editing software that allows you to resize, rotate and manipulate images before use within PowerPoint or FrontPage.

Possible Uses
Resize a digital picture for insertion into a web page, so that when the page is downloading it doesn't take a tremendous amount of time

Rotate an image

Sound Recorder
Allows the user to record and than edit sound files from a cd or existing .wav file.  When done users can save files in a universal .wav format.

Possible Uses
To record the different sounds off a cd

To remove 20 seconds prior to and 14 seconds after a 15 second sound bite.
