Emergence of Modern and Contemporary Art*

 

Objective:

To look at and understand certain key concepts of modern and or contemporary art, through the examination of a select number of works that are a part of the permanent collection of the Guggenheim museum.

  • The art of the Avant-Garde - 1860-1960 - is defined as new ways to look forward, to engage the future, and to challenge the present.
