Art Reflects Industrialization

Roles and Perception of Women During the Industrial Revolution*

Grades 10-11

 

OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to (SWBAT):

 

1.       Identify cultural, social, and historical factors/events that influenced art during the 19th century through the mid 20th century.

2.       List specific events of the time period that influenced the artworks of the Guggenheim collection.

3.       Create an annotated timeline of the events of the time period that influenced the artworks of the Guggenheim collection.

4.       Identify the changes in the roles and perception of women during the Industrial Revolution by viewing the artworks of the Guggenheim collection.

5.       List the causes for the changes in the roles and perception of women during the Industrial Revolution.

6.       Compare and contrast social classes by viewing each piece of art and reading pieces of literature from the Industrial Revolution.
