The terrain near Still water, New York heavily influenced the sequence of events and the outcome of the battles of Saratoga in 1777.  The role and importance of the terrain of the Saratoga Battlefield in the two battles of Saratoga in 1777 will be highlighted.

Four five minute video clips of park staff members and park volunteers in 18th century clothing explaining different portions of the battlefield from the perspective of representative, composite individuals from 1777.  Individuals include a British and an American Officer at Bemis Heights; a German soldier and an American rifleman at Breyman's Redoubt

At the conclusion of the program students will be able to:
 

1.  Identify three ways that the terrain influenced the decisions and actions of both armies during the battles of Saratoga.
 

2.  Recognize the limitations imposed by terrain features upon armies in the Revolutionary War.
 

3.  Understand the efforts of the National Park Service to preserve the historic scene at Saratoga National Historic Park and other sites.
